Thesis & Dissertation
- Over the course of our consulting relationship, we may provide you with some written material regarding your analyses. We will not write your results chapter; we can only provide reference material to aid you in this process. All work in your final document must be in your own words.
- Nevertheless, we understand that certain material (e.g., tables) is appropriate to be used as-is in your work. Other specific phrases are common statistical language which we also understand are not necessary to re-word. We will help make this distinction clear with you.
- In order to best assess your needs, all thesis and dissertation consulting must begin with a meeting (in-person or phone-based) where expectations, both yours and ours, will be discussed.
- We are here to serve as a supplement to your committee, not to replace committee members. Therefore, we strongly encourage you to be upfront with your chair and/or committee that you are utilizing the help of an outside consulting service.
- We encourage you to share our recommendations for your methodology with your chair and/or committee prior to fully conducting the data analysis. Committees often have a general idea of what they would (and would not) like to see in your study and it is important to keep them satisfied.
- All data you provide to us related to your research will be kept absolutely confidential and secure.
Tutoring
- We may explain how to tackle the challenges in your coursework, but will not, under any circumstances, do your graded homework or assist with online quizzes and tests.
- It is not unusual for us to bring supplemental materials to provide additional examples for practice. However, it is entirely your responsibility to come prepared with your own book or course materials.
- We will work as hard as we possibly can to help you truly learn the material in your course. However, you have to do your part as well in studying and working through practice problems. Therefore, we do not take any responsibility for a less-than-desirable assignment, test, or course grade.
- For in-person tutoring, appointments are to be made at least 48 hours in advance, although we do occasionally accept "emergency" appointments and shorter-term online appointments.
- Tutoring location is a joint decision by StatHelpers and you.
- Payment is typically provided on a by-session basis.
- Group rates are always available, resulting in discounted per-person fees.
- Quick questions via phone or e-mail that take fewer than 15 minutes to answer are complimentary. (However, if we deem that you've been abusing this rule, we reserve the right to start billing nominally.)
- While we understand that emergencies happen, several cancellations without prior-day notice may result in our decision to end tutoring services with you.
